3.HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION |
Risk advice to man and the environment. This health hazard assessment is based on a
consideration of the composition of this product. Vapours may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. May cause irritation to skin and eyes. Flammable |
|
4.FIRST AID MEASURES |
Inhalation: Remove patient from exposure, keep warm and at rest. Obtain medical attention if ill effects occur.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water. If symptoms develop, obtain medical attention. Contaminated clothing should be laundered before re-issue.
Eye contact: Irrigate with eyewash solution or clean water, holding the eyelids apart, for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention.
Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water and give 200-300 ml (half a pint) of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention if ill effects occur.
Notes to physicianTreatment: Symptomatic treatment and supportive therapy as indicated. Following severe exposure the patient should be kept under medical review for at least 48 hours as delayed pulmonary oedema may develop |
|
5.FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES |
Suitable extinguishing media: foam, CO2 or dry powder. Water should not be used as the burning solvent will float on the surface. For large fires, use foam or water-fog; avoid use of water jet. Water spray should be used to cool containers. Specific hazards during fire fighting Flammable. Combustion or thermal decomposition will evolve toxic and irritant vapours. The vapour is heavier than air and may travel a considerable distance to a source of ignition and flashback.
Special protective equipment for firefighters: A self contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing must be worn in fire conditions. |
|
6.ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES |
Personal precautions: Ensure suitable personal protection (including respiratory protection) during removal of spillages
Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or watercourses.
Methods for cleaning up: Eliminate sources of ignition. Adsorb spillages onto sand, earth or any suitable adsorbent material. Do not adsorb onto sawdust or other combustible materials. Transfer to a container for disposal. Wash the spillage area clean. Washings must be prevented from entering surface water drains. |

11.TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION |
Acute oral toxicity: Ingestion may cause irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. May cause headache, nausea and vomiting. Large doses may produce effects similar to inhalation. Aspiration of liquid may cause pulmonary
oedema.
Acute inhalation toxicity: Atmospheric concentrations in excess of the Occupational Exposure Limit may lead to irritation of the eyes and respiratory system.
Vapours may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Fluid build up on the lung (pulmonary oedema) may occur up to 48 hours after exposure and could prove fatal.
Skin irritation:May cause skin irritation. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking.
Eye contact:The vapour and liquid may be irritant.
Delayed Or Chronic Toxicological Effects: Long Term Exposure It is unlikely to present a carcinogenic hazard to man |
